What is this site about, you ask? Well, I have noticed that there has been many misconceptions and stereotypes about certain subcultures. These misconceptions change how people view these subcultures, whether they are out of it or not. Some people who claim to be alternative do not share the views, tastes or knowledge that is integral to the identity. So, I am here to try and gather some knowledge in order to spread awareness about these identities. The site is still under construction, so I'm still asking around for some data!

Despite all this, remember to have fun and express yourself the way YOU want to! Do not try to box yourself into any labels that you do not resonate with.

I grew up knowing I was different. I had different tastes and different values, but I was not sure how to make it fit into my identity. As such, I rejected mainstream without knowing any other things to be interested in, leaving me slightly stagnant. I then met a friend who was fully alternative, and she showed me her music taste. It opened my eyes to what was ACTUALLY possible, and I have resonated with alternative subcultures ever since.

Labels help you find community and music you love. They also make you feel less alone. But no subculture has a list of requirements you need to check off. You don't need to pass a test to call yourself emo or goth. If the music resonates with you and the values align, you're welcome here. Just don't spread misinformation; that's the only rule.
