Question 1; Misconceptions
AnonEl: i guess that everyone’s depressed 🤔🤔
AnonMi: That Emo music is 2000’s pop punk eg. FOB, P!ATD ect. Whilst they are “CULTURALLY” emo they aren’t real emo music.
AnonKe: mainly for the emo one most ppl misconstrue us to be depressed or self harmers but rlly I feel that’s not true as I’m pretty happy dressing how I do and i haven’t committed any acts of self harm at all cause of it.
AnonAt: Sad all of the time, weird, mean, "different" (in a bad way)
AnonKy: that we're just about sadness & depression ig
AnonMa: That every emo in there is depressed, satanic or has got any struggle with nssi.
AnonBr: That we're all depressed and / or self harmers
AnonKa: That you can't be a POC and scene / emo/ goth
Question 2; Favourite Things
AnonEl: i love the music !!! i guess being emo is majorly fashion in a sense but i mainly luv it for the music
AnonMi: People tend to be oretty nice at irl scene/emo shows and the moshing at emo shows isn’t too intense.
AnonKe: The music! It’s so fun and cool I rlly like it ::::)
AnonAt: THE MUSIC🤤
AnonKy: the music!! :3
AnonMa: The music because it sometimes frames exactly how we feel daily or in a especific situation in our lives and this freedom of expressing emotions is what makes the emo subculture special and powerful.
AnonBr: I love the way that people come together around a certain band or artist and forget that they're all strangers <3
AnonKa: The ability to just be myself
Question 3; Tips for Beginners
AnonEl: there are a lot of people that make fun of emo music and fashion but i guess i’d say a big part of the subculture in itself is to ignore what those people and be who you want !!!
AnonMi: Don’t call yourself someghing until you have done enough research to understand what your saying.
AnonKe: Start out small and gradually grow into it!
AnonAt: Go for it and get that side part, ignore what others might think 🖤
AnonKy: UHHHH THAT THEY'RE DOING WELL AND THAT THEY'RE COOL!!1!!!!!!1!! :D
AnonMa: First: listen to the music and try opening your mind about expressing feelings and sensations, it can be through talking about opening yourself, writing poems, drawing etc.; second: be the best version of your emoself and not another copy of johnnie guilbert with that i mean create your own emo by styling your hair (which is typically the side bang) in a way that most represents yourself, dress in an unique way that is still inside of the subculture and etc. and that's it rawr XD
AnonBr: I would want to tell them that even though there are a LOT of people who'll say that you're 'not doing it right' or that you're a poser for not listening to a band that spat out one niche song in the arse crack of 2008, and that those people do not matter, they're irrelevant. Do what you wanna do and be who you wanna be.
AnonKa: Stop asking "am I XYZ enough?" If you involve yourself in whatever alt community and actually, truly put the research into understanding the subculture then it'll come naturally overtime. Do you listen to goth (the genre) music? Yes? You're goth. Do you listen to emo (the genre) music? Yes? You're emo? Emo and Goth aren't about the look. They're about the music. And in that same vein not every band that is cool and edgy is emo/goth. Put in the research. Sorry I have to be the one to break this to you but Fall Out Boy and P!ATD... Not emo. Still a vibe, but not emo. Scene on the other hand low-key you just gotta rock a scene adjacent look and be confident about it. Music is a big part of scene culture but it's not a music BASED culture. I'd call it fashion based, music adjacent. Like; the fashion is the most important thing but do you really complete the vibe authentically without listening to a lil Breathe Carolina? Probably not. TLDR; Research what actually makes up your subculture and you'll be fine.

Question 1; Misconceptions
AnonDa: we are always always grouped as being emo or wanting to do harmful things to ourselves and others, when it's often not the case! yes, some of us do have those tendencies, but its not deserving to the other people in the subculture to be grouped into a title that they dont fall under! just ask which we fall under (alternative plz dont ask random people about if they have harmful thoughts😞)
AnonXa: Uuhhh we mean
AnonBl: That im tryna be goth
AnonLi: A big misconception about punk is that it's solely about being aggressive or anti-establishment; in reality, it's also about community, creativity, and expressing individuality.
Question 2; Favourite Things
AnonDa: we are a generatively accepting subculture! we love everyone for who they are🩷
AnonXa: The freedom and kindness along with mutual respect attached to it
AnonBl: Can be very cute with color and js black and white
AnonLi: What I love most about punk is the sense of belonging and the DIY ethos. It encourages art, music, and self-expression in an authentic way that resonates with me deeply.
Question 3; Tips for Beginners
AnonDa: just be yourself! everyone is welcome to be alternative, it doesn't fall under just one category!
AnonXa: Of punk? Well I’m sorta new myself in the whole aesthetic part but I’d definitely say start diying and don’t go anywhere near shein or temu or Amazon, go to local thrift stores if you have the money and definitely pick up sewing too
AnonBl:Dont be afraid of what people r gonna tell u js do it
AnonLi:To beginners, I'd say embrace the spirit of punk by being yourself and don't be afraid to stand out. Attend local gigs, meet like-minded people, and participate in the community.

Question 1; Misconceptions
AnonMi: Generally that we all wear neon colors, honestly nowadays i barely see anyone wear it
AnonNo: That you have to always wear scene outfits or spend money on outfits for scene,,, you don't need to do that,, you can use stuff that's already in your closet or even make stuff yourself :((
AnonCo: that we only listen to EDM and rave music
AnonJu: The misconception that emo and scene are the same thing
AnonMi: that most of us are rude and entitled apparently??
AnonLo: That it’s merely about visual aesthetics and that music, community, and politics are irrelevant. This is a stereotype that is rooted in men in the hardcore scene at the time judging women and gay men in the scene for dressing flamboyantly, saying they were just “scene queens” that did not actually care about the music or the scene and were merely treating hardcore shows as a fashion show. The scene subculture is also inherently political due to how it allowed women and feminine men to have their own space in the alternative community, and the challenging of gender roles and stereotypes.
AnonCr: It’s only fashion or its only muisc, its the same as scenecore, you need to spend a lot to be scene, you need to be a social butterfly to be scene
AnonMa3: That it’s “just music based” or “just fashion based” — both aspects are just as important and you can’t be scene if you like one or the other. Although scene ISN’T a music GENRE, many bands are still considered scene since they were popular with 2000s scene kids.
